Educational Scholars Leadership Program 2008-2009
The new Educational Scholars Leadership Program (ESLP) is designed to prepare CHM faculty for long-term success in their educational leadership and scholarly roles. The program includes a structured curriculum delivered via half-day monthly meetings in East Lansing and the completion of a CHM-related educational project. The ESLP will begin Fall Semester 2008.
A cohort of up to twelve CHM faculty (clinical, basic, or social science; campus and community-based) will be selected to participate in the two-year program. Applicants should currently have or aspire to an educational leadership position within the College.
The Educational Scholars Leadership Program (ESLP) is being sponsored by the offices of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Development, and the Office of Medical Education Research and Development (OMERAD).

Technology Training for Medical Education:
Skills for Online Instruction
The OMERAD Faculty Development Seminar Series focuses on helping faculty and staff develop skills to further medical education. This year we will be focusing on skills for online instruction. Participants will learn tips and tricks with ANGEL, how to use Adobe Acrobat Connect (formerly Breeze Live) for web-based video conferencing, capturing lectures in Camtasia Studio, and the ever-popular seminar on how to create a poster using PowerPoint.
The series, conducted by experienced OMERAD faculty and staff, uses the validated format of hands-on training sessions, individual practice with instructor support, and take-home training materials. Sessions will be held in the OMERAD Training Center, located in A211 East Fee Hall. All faculty and staff are welcome to attend.
You must be familiar with basic mouse, keyboard and Windows skills to participate in the seminar series. To register, please contact us by email: omerad@msu.edu. Enrollment in all sessions is limited.

On-line Lessons in Core Teaching Competencies
This website provides digital presentations and other faculty development material for medical educators who teach at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine. Much of the material should be valuable to other health educators who are welcome to make use of the material contain on this site. CME credit is available for medical educators who teach for MiSU's College of Human Medicine for completing the training modules on this site. (http://www.digitalpresentations.org/facaffair/). CHM's Office of Faculty Affairs and Development sponsors a new faculty development series titled Core Teaching Competencies
for Medical Educators. Our goal in this series is to address
core skills for teaching and evaluating medical students. Dr. Stephen Yelon and others have agreed to share their expertise

MSU Center for Statistical Training & Consulting Fall 2007 Workshops
The Center for Statistical Training and Consulting is a professional service and research unit at Michigan State University. Our aim is to support research and provide training and consulting in statistics for faculty, staff and graduate students. These Friday afternoon workshops (external link) are free, but require preregistration.
Spring Institute on College Teaching and Learning
Each year, the Office of Faculty and Organizational Development offers our Spring Institute, a week-long series of workshops on topics related to active learning, inclusive teaching, and assessment.
