Dr. Ferenchick will present tools and strategies for effective precepting of trainees in the ambulatory setting, discussing and demonstrating case-based teaching methods, the steps in being a “One Minute Preceptor” and the RIME evaluation framework. Video vignettes and cases will be used during this workshop.

3. Clinical Evaluation

April 17, 2006, Dr. Christopher Reznich, 12:30-3:30 pm.

Dr. Reznich will present a useful framework for evaluating medical students and residents in clinical settings. Topics will include evaluation purposes, content, and methods. Common rater errors and evaluation issues will also be addressed.

4. Providing Constructive Feedback to Learners

May 15, 2006, Dr. William Anderson, 12:30-2:30 pm.

Providing meaningful feedback to learners is essential to improving their clinical performance. Dr. Anderson will present how and when to provide feedback, related issues, and how to prepare for formal feedback sessions.
